Angus Gunn called up for England

Congratulations to Triple S client Angus Gunn who was called up to the senior England squad for the first time earlier this week and featured on the bench for Tuesday’s friendly against Brazil.

Norwich City keeper Angus, who is on loan from Manchester City, has been in fine form this season. He has kept seven clean sheets for the Canaries and has been a standout player for England U21’s.

The call-up came after playing the full 90 minutes for England U21 in their 2-0 win over Ukraine last Friday in European Championship qualification and it was certainly a moment that Angus won’t forget, he took to twitter to say: “So proud to be called up to the full England squad. It’s the stuff dreams are made of and I would like to thank everybody who has helped me get this far!”

His dad, Bryan Gunn, is Head of Recruitment at Triple S and was capped six times by Scotland and was a member of the squad that travelled to the 1990 World Cup. Regardless of his strong ties to Scotland it was still a proud moment for Bryan, he commented: “We were delighted when we heard the news that Angus was going to be called up for the senior squad for the Brazil game, the calmest person about the whole thing was actually Angus – he takes everything in his stride and he is never overwhelmed by things. It’s just the next step for him and a reward for all the hard work that he has put in throughout his professional career up to now.”

Everbody at Triple S ae delighted for Angus, Paul Stretford, Managing Director at Triple S, said: “We have worked with Angus and his family since he was a young lad in the Norwich City Academy and facilitated the opportunity for him to join Manchester City and for the family to move to the North West. The growth is Angus as a player and a person throughout this period has been wonderful to see and be a part of all of which has culminated in his call up to the England senior squad. I know Angus will take it in his stride and agree whilst the recognition is great the important thing is to keep moving forward, progressing and improving his game. For all of us at Triple S it is a great pleasure to be part of his management team and help achieve his personal goals.”
